www.playmakershockey.com Disclaimer: I do not own the audio track to this video it is “Ready for War” by 50 Cent from the album “Before I Self Descruct” Darryl Belfry of Playmakers Hockey recently completed an extensive study on the World’s best goal scorers and identified several different shooting release techniques that represent a new level of shooting skill. Darryl completed a summer training program with Matt Ellis of the Buffalo Sabres which featured the development of those shots. The following highlights our last on-ice session and illustrates these shooting techniques.

Do you have any good idea(drills) for practicing these technics in a team of 20 players?

DangleCraz says:

Hey Darryl, its Nick Smith. I’m looking forward to this summer, hopefully we can work on some stuff like this!

Great video, thanks for posting it. Crazy to see a guy that big with that much edge control and sick hands. It is nice to see a pro put in work, SEE KIDS! WHEN YOU FINALLY LEARN A NEW TRICK, TRY SOMETHING HARDER!!!!!

Great Vid… on saturday i’ll try to put your tip into skatelife!
Yo!

griffinman13 says:

just a quick question. You see at the begginning he does a slow down thing before shooting, what is the point of this. Also is the footwork used for optimizing weight transfer or does it help get a shot off quicker. Thanks

thescrounger1 says:

Surprised he’s not scoring more after seeing this preparation.
last year 14 GP, no points

ppappixx says:

Do you know what flex hes using?

DirtySnipshowBarDown says:

Does anyone notice when he is shooting off one foot he is shooting off tthe wrong foot the kick leg should ne the right handed side if your a lefty.

howtohockeydotcom says:

You can transfer your weight to either foot. The difference is the speed of release. Typically if you shoot in stride you want to transfer your weigh to the inside foot, it makes your shot more deceptive and gives the goalie less time to setup.

MrJayWHAT says:

This guy is sick

chach21 says:

just so you know, the scorers shoot that “pull & bend” shot off of one leg, not two. also, why not smack that mid-air pass directly into the net? you save a few steps and give the goalie and D less time to recover position.

other than that, this is immensely helpful and informational. i am supremely glad this is on youtube

chach21 says:

get a hand mirror and watch the video through the mirror. that’s how i watch great left-handed players.

jonnycakeable says:

Lol, he’s an NHL 4th-liner, but I admit, compared to you or me, he’s sick.

It’s amazing to me that this guy’s coach is letting him run through all these reps with his head down.
